Georgia O'Keeffe Digital Painting

Image
I had so much fun with this assignment. First, I found a picture of a really cool flower. then, I traced it in Photoshop and tried to get as close as possible to the original photo.

Impressionist Portrait

Image
Even though this is not a portrait of a person, I thought it was a good head shot of this horse. I chose this picture, then used different colored dots to show this horse in a new way.

Post-Impressionist Landscape

Image
For this project, I chose a picture of a fall landscape and copied it with small dots, as an impressionist painter would. This was very tedious, but I enjoyed it and i love the final result

Digital Masterpiece

Image
I loved this assignment! It took me about a week to complete, but I wanted to get every detail correct. The original painting is called  The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. For this project, I used Sketchbook Pro to recreate this painting. I first chose the painting, then I added a clear layer and traced all elements of the picture, then, I deleted the original picture to get this!

Create a New Logo

Image
For my logo, I chose to reimagine the 21 Pilots logo. I first put in a picture of vintage flying/pilot's goggles. Then, I found a cool font and put it into the lenses of the goggles. I decided to do this because I like 21 pilots, and I had the idea to use vintage flying goggles because of the band name, 21 Pilots.

Composition: Formal Balance

Image
This assignment was focused on making a formal or informal balance "painting". I chose to do formal, or symmetrical balance. I first put a bunch of colors on the canvas, then blended them together. I selected a new layer, then traced the girls with umbrellas. I erased the section under them to look like it was raining color.

Street Art Piece

Image
For this "street art" assignment, we chose different backgrounds, such as brick, cement, wood, etc. I chose to represent someone's inner feelings of not being good enough. I am trying to speak to all the people who have low self-worth and feel alone. I used a stencil to draw the person, then I "painted" the lettering.

Stencils: Rhythm/Movement

Image
This assignment, unlike the others, was done in ArtRage. First, I colored the background blue and purple, then, i imported an image of a cat as a stencil. I used the "airbrush tool" to fill in the stencils. It was hard to keep the cats even, but I think I did a pretty good job.

Rothko Inspired Painting

Image
The Rothko inspired assignment was so fun! I used ArtRage to make this, so it was fun to experiment with new tools and applications. I first started with a layer of pinks, yellows, and orange. I blended them together, then added turquoise and dark blue. I enjoyed this project, so I hope you do too!

Celebrity With Animal Name

Image
For this project, we chose a celebrity that had an animal name. As you can see, I chose Michael J. Fox. I first selected a photo of Michael Fox, then I selected a photo of a fox. Then, I placed the fox picture over Michael J. Fox's face. I blended the two layers together using a low opacity eraser to make it more "realistic".

Scanned Drawing

Image
I had so much fun with this assignment because it incorporated drawing and digital art. I drew this baby dragon a while ago, and I thought it would be perfect for this assignment. I traced my pencil drawing with felt-tip pen, then scanned it onto a flash-drive. Then, I put the drawing in Photoshop, and used different techniques to color it in.

9 Panel Comic

Image
This assignment took a while, but it was really fun. I took my characters and background from the cartoon scene, and used a similar storyline. Luckily, I didn't have to remake the characters every slide, thanks to Photoshop. Hope you enjoy!

Color a Cartoon Scene

Image
I had so much fun with this assignment. I chose a cartoon setting, in my case a diner, then we colored in characters and placed them into the background. I loved making a story out of the few things in my image. I hope you like it too!

Bird Coloring Page

Image
For this project, I selected a simple bird coloring page, and images of feather. I dragged each individual feather onto the bird picture until i filled the entire thing. Then, I cut out the background and put in a custom gradient.

Zendoodle Coloring Page

Image
This assignment is called the zendoodle coloring page. It was very tedious but I enjoyed creating this bright, colorful masterpiece. For this project, I chose a zendoodle, then colored in each section a different color, like a digital coloring page! I chose this particular zendoodle because I loved the patterns and simplicity.

Where's Simone?

Image
I absolutely loved this assignment! It was very time-consuming, and I ran out of ideas on more than one occasion, but I got to express myself through all the tiny images I put together. The goal of the assignment is to hide yourself wearing the "Where's Waldo?" outfit somewhere in the collage. The smaller the photos are, the harder Waldo is to find. In total, I have over 250 layers/photos!!

Albrecht Durer

Image
This is the Albrecht Durer assignment, where we took a picture, cut out the background, and added a black and white filter

Edward Gorey

Image
This is the Edward Gorey assignment, where we used the "cookie cutter" tool to create the solid black shapes. Edward Gorey is an artist who makes black and white drawings with dark rhymes, so we made a rhyme with our name that matches the picture. I enjoyed this project because we got to learn and experiment new skills.

Celebrity Coloring Page

Image
This assignment was quick but fun. I chose a celebrity, then uploaded the image to Photoshop, where I traced details to make it look as much like the person as I can. Can you guess who it is?

Cartoon Yourself

Image
The Cartoon Yourself assignment was incredibly fun and I loved being able to digitally create a photo of me. First, I took a picture of myself and put it in Photoshop. Then, I matched colors to what I saw in the photo, and painted over the image. I worked to shade and match my skin tone, hair, and clothing. Lastly, I spend most of my summer at Lake Champlain, so I added a photo of a lake into the background.
